Multistakeholder Collaboration for True Participation
Information
A conversation with Ashoka Fellows Rosanne Haggerty and Tessy Britton, both extraordinary practitioners of multistakeholder collaboration in communities. We will explore what it means to do things properly when tackling social inequities like homelessness and the erosion of social cohesion in a time of polarization. And we will take away invaluable lessons for social entrepreneurs, public and community leaders and philanthropies to understand. Rosanne is the President of Community Solutions, a U.S. organization leading the Built for Zero campaign to bring homelessness to functional zero in 100 cities (15 have achieved this status already). The secret to success is a powerful method of mobilizing stakeholders in communities around evidence and data that shows, in close to real time, the success of their practices to end homelessness. Tessy Britton is the founder of Participatory City, pursuing a vision to overcome fragmentation and polarization in society by removing the barriers facing citizens who want to improve their communities. Participatory City is best known for its full-scale social R&D project in the London borough of Dagenham and Barking, where they mobilized over 150 partners from community, city council, and philanthropy to create Every One Every Day, a system designed for connection, contribution and collaboration. Sascha Haselmayer will moderate this conversation. He is an Ashoka Fellow and Partner at Ashoka Germany and author of the book “The Slow Lane: Why Quick Fixes Fail and How To Achieve Real Change”.
